Okay, I'm letting you know right now that this is awesome. Watching a movie/tv just became a whole lot funner. Yes, "funner." And the bonus? You don't even really notice that you're working out pretty hard.
So, many months ago I wanted to watch Lord of the Rings. Every few years the urge hits me. And being the popular, cult-like movie that it is, I thought I'd look online to see if there was some game we could play so that it would be more of a fun, interactive date. Mostly what I found where drinking games. "Take a shot every time Frodo lands on his back, etc." Since we don't drink I toyed a bit with filling in "shot" with "eat (amt) of popcorn." "kiss," "tell the person a secret about ___," etc. but didn't come across one that really worked for me.
Then in the midst of my Harry Potter re-watching fling (that happens more often. I really love Harry Potter. Evidence HERE, HERE, or HERE. ;) But I digress. ) I ran across this blog - Someone Elses Genius. And it was awesome! THIS is what I was looking for when I found all those drinking games! So without further ado, how about this for Harry Potter & the Halfblood Prince (6) ?!
Yeah. That's right. HP workouts! Check it out here, grab a friend, your exercise clothes, and favorite Harry Potter movie and have fun! It's like a mini scavenger hunt, because you're looking for these signs throughout the movie, and when you find one it's like scoring a point. Like you're allowed now to do the exercises. And let's talk about how you're watching the movie the whole entire time, and that's a win. win. win. When you feel like watching a movie, make it more fun for yourself and play this game. Sometimes it's hard to convince myself or Derek, but we're always glad we did. And if you're going to work out anyhow, do yourself a favor and watch HP. ;) As a point of interest, the workouts for the first movies start out pretty easy, and they gradually build in intensity.
I'm seriously hooked. It has become a really fun ritual every couple nights. But Harry Potter isn't the only thing we watch. So I've been making workouts for our current fav tv shows and movies. I'm planning on posting a new one every week (I'm thinking tv/movie jam Tuesday), so keep checking back. :) Happy Friday!!
